THE CLOSING PLENARY SESSION IN VILNIUS

The closing plenary session of Heritprot project took place at the Council Hall of Vilnius municipality on the 17th of October, 2014. The meeting began with official welcome speeches from the Chairman of Lithuanian National UNESCO Commission Dr. Romas Pakalnis, Director of the City Development Department Arturas Blotnys, Director of Vilnius Old Town Renewal Agency Gediminas Rutkauskas and the Head of Vilnius County Fire and Rescue Board Rimantas Steponavičius.

Overview of the project Heritprot activities and the results of the project were exposed by partners of the project Erikas Zalalis and Jurate Raugaliene. They presented the Good Practices Manual and the case studies that were selected for the local implementation and action plans. The preparation of the Fire Safety Plan of Vilnius Old Town was included into Vilnius Fire Prevention Programme. It is planned to prepare the Fire Safety Plan as georeferenced database (GIS) scheme to the end of the year 2014. The Plan will include many good practices presented by international project Heritprot partners. The Recommendations for managers of immovable cultural heritage properties were prepared; the recommendations will be distributed via the Ministry of Culture and local municipalities.

62 participants took part at Vilnius plenary session including policy makers from national and local levels, representatives of fire and rescue services from all over the country, representatives of main museums, libraries and other cultural heritage buildings of Vilnius. Press and mass media were invited to attend in order to disseminate the results developed by Vilnius project partner.
