HERITPROT Final Event in La Laguna

From the 2nd to the 4th of July 2014, took place the 10th Heritprot and last event in La Laguna (Tenerife, Spain). During the event many activities were carried out, especially with regard to the official presentation of the Good Practices Manual and the preparation and demonstration of the practical exercise.
The meeting began with official welcome speeches from the President of the Island Council of Tenerife, Mr. Carlos Enrique Alonso, Insular Counsellor of the Area of Municipal Cooperation, Home and Security Mr. José Antonio Valbuena and the Tenerife´s Consortium for Risks Prevention, Fire Fighting&Rescue Mr. Carlos Gonz?lez. After the Good Practices Manual was officialy presented, a member of the Joint Technical Secretariat of Interreg IVC Mr. Jasón Mart?nez presented the state of play and perspectives of the “EU interregional cooperation. Afther his presentation, Mr. Jose Miguel Marquez talked about the rehabilitation of Remedios Cathedral and a rountable discussion about the good practices manual was presented by each partner.

For finalize the event, this was de scene that firefighters met during the exercise: an earthquake of 5.8 degrees on the Richter scale rocked for 40 seconds the Church of La Concepción. The structure of the tower was severely damaged. A group of students who had been in the temple were injured and trapped inside, the altarpiece and the works of art are in danger. Just at the moment in which the Earth tuned, a worker soldering pieces in the roof of the building. The earthquake made the sparks and the fire started at the attic. The practical exercise was a success and it has been done thanks to a lot of people involved and obviously all the partners of Heritprot Project!
