In December 2010 Vilnius Old Town Renewal Agency prepared 3 project applications following the Lithuanian Cultural Fund call for 2011.

Project “Vilnius Legends and Today” consists of 5 parts: thematic excursions, competitions of essays and drawings, informational files and publication, and a concluding event – concert. Goal of the project is children and pupils awareness rising about material and immaterial (mythological) cultural heritage values of Vilnius and their intercourse. The Projects aims to stimulate youth interest in city’s history and traditions.

Project “Regional Conference: Integrated Cultural Heritage Management Plans in Baltic countries” is developed together with colleagues from Riga and Tallinn municipalities. Aim of the project is to revive exchange of experience between heritage managers from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in the field of historic towns’ integrated management and implementation of management plans, preservation of authenticity. Consolidated promotion of cultural heritage of the three Baltic capitals and discussions on the advanced ways and methods preserving the authentic values would take place during the project. Common publication on cultural heritage values and their maintenance in the three capital cities would be issued. Partners of the project are municipalities of Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius, Lithuanian National UNESCO Commission.

Project “Integrated Information System of the Old Town Buildings” would present information on Vilnius Old Town buildings in the public internet site. In a course of 10 years the Agency collected information about historic buildings and public spaces of Vilnius Old Town, their use, maintenance and upgrade. The systemic information about each building would be useful for house owners, users, and interested citizens. Such information would improve their knowledge, historic consciousness and responsibility for maintenance of houses. The project would help to implement monitoring of the site following the Guidelines for the Implementation of UNESCO World Heritage Convention. Vilnius City Municipality is the partner of the Project.
