Krakow celebrates the 45th anniversary of its UNESCO World Heritage listing this year. Numerous events, symposia, exhibitions, and meetings took place to commemorate this important milestone and emphasize the significance of Krakow’s cultural heritage. Celebratory symposium took place on September 7th to 8th. Vilnius was represented by D. Armakauskaite, Head of Cultural Heritage Division and G. Rutkauskas, Director of Vilnius Old Town Renewal Agency. G. Rutkauskas gave a presentation „Vilnius: 700 years in Europe and 30 years in UNESCO World Heritage list.
During symbolic inauguration of the Europa Nostra Heritage Hub discussions about development of relationship between heritage and society were moderated by Prof. Jacek Purchla and Sneška Quaedvilieg-Michailovič, Secretary General of Europa Nostra. Finaly, the „UNESCO WHL plaque“ was opened on the pavement of the Wawel Royal Castle.
