The 3rd public discussion of the Vilnius Old Town Management Plan Project was held at the Vilnius Technical Museum on September 19. The discussion of the thematic group “Awareness, education and inclusion” was moderated and summarized by G. Rutkauskas, head of Vilnius Old Town Renewal Agency. Proposals received:
– The priority should be given to young people: children and schoolchildren. When implementing the education of this audience, implement EXPERIENTIAL EDUCATION measures as widely as possible;
– organize the education of the owners of historical buildings about the restoration, management and maintenance of the historical environment and buildings, encouraging them to take initiative and responsibility for the qualitative renewal of the buildings, their environment and the accessibility of the courtyards (during daylight hours);
– encourage the owners of historical buildings to learn about the history of their living environment and to develop it creatively – for example: by setting up beds of medicinal herbs in the surroundings of the house, planting unique flower beds or plants that historically grew in the city; installing cozy facilities for active recreation for children or the elderly;
– use the patrons of the Old Town or the resources of a special fund, encouraging city school teachers to create and hold extracurricular educational activities in the Old Town.
There will be additional EXCURSIONS about the UNESCO World Heritage site – the Historical Center of Vilnius: September 26, 17:30 p.m. and October 7 12:30 p.m. Registration: https://forms.office.com/e/b6qwCih70v
