In 1931 April 25 Neris and Vilnia overflowed from the banks and flooded the lower streets of Vilnius city. The water covered the Cathedral Square, the current T. Vrublevskis, Tilto, Žygimantų streets, Antakalnis and Žvėrynas districts. The Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service reports that 93 years ago, on April 27, the highest water level was recorded in the Neris near Vilnius – 825 cm above zero.
