Cooperation of Baltic Capitals

The regional seminar “Advancement in maintenance of UNESCO World Heritage sites: Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn” will take place on September 23 – 24 in Vilnius. There are 2 themes of the seminar: “Property Owners Engagement, Consultative and Financial Support Process“ and „Contemporary Architecture in UNESCO WH sites”. Representatives of Vilnius Old Town Renewal Agency, City Development Department of Riga City Council and Heritage Conservation Division of Tallinn City Council will make thematic presentations, and all the participants are welcome to openly rise questions and join common discussions. Representatives of responsible institutions, communities and experts are welcome to join the Seminar to be held in English only. Vilnius Program_EN

The Seminar is part of the International Project, dedicated to the inscription of Baltic capitals upon to UNESCO World Heritage List. The main objective of the Project is to commence development of virtual cross-city data and cooperation platform. The Project is supported by the Nordic-Baltic Mobility Program and implemented in May 18, 2020 – October 15, 2021.

The 1st Project seminar took place in Riga in July 8 – 10, 2020. Thematic Exhibition dedicated to Regeneration of Vilnius historic city centre in 1998-2020 was opened during the Seminar in Riga’s Town Hall. The 2nd Seminar took place in Tallinn in July 14 – 15, 2021. Most valuable heritage objects and areas restored or adapted to new uses were introduced and visited during the Tallinn meeting. Experiences and challenges of urban heritage maintenance, public and new architecture in historic environment were discussed in both meetings.
