European Heritage Days in Vilnius

European Heritage Days in Lithuania were held for the 30th time. As every year, the agency organized a number of events in Vilnius in September 8-17: 2 events took place in restored churches, 7 in the galleries-workshops of the Traditional Crafts program. Restorer Stasys Latonas told about the restoration of the Franciscan church, restorer Indrė Valkiūnienė – about St. Teresa’s Church; Vilnius craftsmen presented restored workshop premises and practical-educational activities: “Vilniaus puodžiai” showed how to make a replica / interpretation of a ceramic tiles; jeweler Darijus Gerlikas told about the jewelry that was based on archaeological findings and conducted an introductory jewelry lesson; violins’ restorer  Gerardas Rūkas presented traditions of the musical instruments of  Vilnius and the evolution of the birth of the instrument, textile artist Gražina Kuzmickienė conducted the education “Strip weaving”, excursions and practical classes were held in the Baltic Amber Art Center, in “Sauluva” and in the Crafts and Arts Center “Nauja Sirena”. The events were supported by the Department of Cultural Heritage through the Program of partial financing of projects for knowledge, dissemination and revitalization of immovable cultural heritage from the state budget (implemented project “Masters of Vilnius Heritage”).
