The regional OWHC secretariats of the Eastern and Central Europe together with Northwest Europe and North America organized a consultative seminar dedicated to the discussion with Ukrainian heritage cities on September 29, 2023. The possibilities and conditions for the inclusion of historical cities in the UNESCO World Heritage List, as well as urban heritage management, dealing with critical threats or losses were discussed. Ukraine was represented by lead specialists from Chernihiv, Chernivtsi, Kamenets-Podolsk (photo below), Lviv and Odesa municipalities.
According to the topic questions raised in advance by Ukrainian experts, the management experiences and answers to the questions were presented by representatives from Krakow, Regensburg, Split, Warsaw and Vilnius. Ukrainian audience found the presentations and consequent discussions of great use. Therefore the initiators of the event – 2 regional OWHC secretariats plan to hold a similar event in a month. Again, its content should be coordinated with Ukrainian sides prior to the event.
