Renewal of the courtyard in Stikliu St. 4 lasted almost 2 years, and was accomplished at the end of Oct 2020. The tiny courtyard is unique due to its rare medieval character and the sculpture built in 80-ies dedicated to the city Chronicler. This courtyard is one of the most visited by tourists and citizens.
Vilnius Old Town Renewal Agency initiated the Project and its implementation: collected historic data, consulted the local architect Mr. S. Kasteckas, and coordinated physical upgrade works.
The idea moved up when Agency succeeded in finding main sponsor who offered traditional clay outdoor pavement tiles for the Project. Latvian “Lode Group” AB kindly supplied this excellent material cost-free. Lithuanian company UAB “Korgas” joined the Project by providing lightening installation. Both companies became sponsors in order to promote their quality production in Vilnius. UAB “Objekta” performed paving works with the technical supervision of engineer-restorers Mr. P. Kanevičius and Mr. E. Mendelevičius. All partners of this exclusive endeavour were united by a common civic will – create an exemplary high-quality renewal of the historic inner yard.
This courtyard is already visited by children and pupil groups. The festive opening of the yard with official gratitude for sponsors are postponed due to the second wave of coronavirus. Nevertheless, all citizens and city guests are welcome to visit and enjoy the newly cozy courtyard. The Agency kindly invites Old Town’s residents and property owners to plan and take care of quality upgrade of common living environment with the available partial financial support of Vilnius municipality.
