2020 has been declared the year of UNESCO World Heritage in Lithuania in order to highlight the significance of Lithuania’s cultural heritage sites included on the World Heritage List. The year’s programme includes a variety of cultural, educational, and instructional activities. Activities planned by Vilnius Old Town Renewal Agency are:
The exhibition “Preservation and Maintenance of Vilnius Old Town 1994 – 2019” (in LT and EN), dedicated to the 25th anniversary since Vilnius being included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. During January – February 2020 the exhibition was presented at Vilnius Academy of Arts and at the Government of the Republic of Lithuania. It is planned to present the exhibition at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Kedainiai Municipality, Riga and Tallinn cities after the COVID 19 quarantine is finished.
Series of virtual educational stories and short video for children about Vilnius cultural heritage was created to replace the real thematic walks.

The project „Advancement of UNESCO World Heritage sites’ maintenance in Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn“ funded by Nordic Culture Point will be implemented during May 2020 – May 2021. The main objective of the project is to develop an open cross-city data and cooperation platform, reflecting a comparative state of affairs and advancement in maintenance of three historic cities: Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius – UNESCO World Heritage sites.
The „Manual for owners of Vilnius heritage properties“ is under preparation. Information on the research, maintenance and possible financial support will be presented in the Manual.
