Activities in summer 2009

Vilnius Old Town Renewal Agency has got support of Vilnius City Municipality's Children Socialization Programme. Summer camp "Historic-civic Awareness Rising for Youth" was organized fourth time by Vilnius Old Town Information Centre.

The summer camp took place on 30 of June - 14th of July. Totally 92 children from Zirmunai Children and Youth Club, Cultural Centre of Naujoji Vilnia, disabled children from Vilnius Children Pension took part in the Programme. They participated in the thematic walks "Beginning of the History of the City", "Old Vilnius Castles", "City Defensive Wall". Children were introduced to traditional crafts in the arts and crafts galleries "Molio laumė", "Amatų gildija", "Gintaro galerija", "Vitražo manufaktūra". Children became more interested in the history of their city, and they promised to share the information with their parents and teachers.

On 4-11 of June excursions were also organized for other schools of Vilnius and Vilnius Region.

Vilnius Old Town Information centre will continue the awareness rising programmes in autumn 2009. Teachers and children are invited to apply to the Information Centre.
