Educational Project „Historical Capitals of Lithuania“
Educational Project „Historical Capitals of Lithuania“, supported by the Lithuanian Council of Culture, is implemented since May 2014. Programme is planned for the schollchilder of 9th–12th classes. The task of the programme is to introduce children with historical development and urban-architectural value of old Lithuanian capitals: Kernave, Trakai and Vilnius. Vilnius Historic Centre and Kernave archaeological site are inscribed on UNESCO world heritage list. Trakai historical town was nominated for the inscription to the World heritage list.
6 educational lectures and thematic walks in Vilnius Old Town were organised for children during May–June of 2014. The lectures presented historical development and urban-architectural value of all historical capitals. One event was organised for 26 children from Day Care Centres of Vilnius Social Support Centre. The publication „Historical Capitals of Lithuania“ is under preparation and should be printed in August 2014. Excursions for children to Kernave and Trakai will be organised during September–October 2014.
