The reconstruction of the Town Hall Square was finished in 2007. The reconstruction started in 2005, the project was prepared by UAB Archinova. The project included the reconstruction of Didžioji St. from the crossing with Švarco St. to Aušros vartų St.
New pavement, lighting and urban design elements (benches, beds for trees) were installed. The new side entrance to the cellars of the Tawn Hall was built. It is planned to establish the Museum of the Citys History here. The new octagonal fountain was built in the northern part of the Square.
The reconstruction of the fragment of the medieval defensive wall was finished in L.Stuokos-Guceviciaus St. Buildings in T.Vrublevskio St. 4, 6, Subačiaus St. 4, 6, 12, 14, 16 were renovated. The fragment of wall painting was restored in Subačiaus St. 6.
